1. REMOVE
COMPLETE STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM.
2. Remove
bolt going through rear foot peg or bracket.
3. Install bracket “A” using 2” button head bolt. Install flat
washer on bolt, slide bolt through bracket. Now slide rubber
grommet over bolt, install flat washer and slide bolt through
the hole on the foot peg and at this point, only hand tighten
with Allen wrench.
4. Install 2) 5/16” x 1” bolts into brackets located on the
collector pipes. (see photo #1)
5. Install rear pipe (short pipe) using new flange gasket. At
this point, only hand tighten nuts.
6. Install front pipe following the above instructions.
7. Slide collector over primary pipes. (Although this is a slip
fit and should provide a good seal if everything is bolted on
straight, it will be best to use a High Temp. silicone (RTV) on
both ends of the primary tubes to seal the collector).
8. Making sure both pipes are parallel, tighten both 5/16” bolts
through bracket “A”. Using a second 5/16” nut, hold the first
nut with a ½” wrench and using another ½” wrench tighten second
nut locking both nuts together.
9. Now tighten both flanges evenly to manufacturers torque
specifications.
10. Finally, tighten the top bolt on bracket “A” through the
rear foot peg hole. Do not over tighten bolt so that the flat
washer becomes flattened. (This will absorb vibration when the
bike is running.) – Be sure to use a second nut to lock the
first nut.
11. Double check that all bolts are tight before starting the
motorcycle.
12. It is always best to use a thread locking material on all
bolts.
Note: It is best to use new flange gaskets when installing new
pipes. These are readily available from your local dealer.
Note: For fuel injected models, it is recommended to use one of
the adjustable fuel management systems that are available. |
