Directions on how to replace and remove your stock Victory motorcycle grips.
To install our Victory motorcycle custom handle bar grips. First thing to do is
cover your motorcycle tank so if you drop anything you wont scratch the tank.
This will save you a lot of heart ache.
Remove the stock end caps. The throttle side will screw off and the left side
bar end will pull off pretty easy. It is a press on bar end cap. If needed use a
screw driver to pry your end cap off.
The stock grip throttle side will slide right off once the throttle cable is
released.
This one is easy. Just remove the 2 screws holding the throttle housing
together. Once you take the bottom plate off there is one more screw to remove.
This will allow you to see the cable. Remove the two cable ends and let hang.
This will allow you to slide the stock victory grip off the handlebar. Slide the
new grip on. Install the back cable into the new grip and make sure the cable is
running into the slots on the grip. Next install the front cable into the custom
grip. Last replace the first screw then the bottom plate and last the two screws
holding it on.
The stock left grip is glued on.
For the left one, once the end cap is removed, Get some WD40. And using
the little plastic straw on the can, squirt some up under the stock
grip to help dissolve the glue. Let this soak for about 1/2 hour.
Then get a thin flat head screw driver and insert under the stock grip
and run it completely around the handlebar to unseal the grip from the
bar.
When this is off there will be glue left on the bar. Use WD-40 or other
to get the glue off.
Next you want to have the bar clean. The replacement Victory motorcycle grip
will be held on by 4 Allen head set screws. Make sure the wd-40 is completely
cleaned off before installing the new grips. Use alcohol pads to get that bar
cleaned.
Now when you install the new grip. Just tighten the screws holding the custom
Victory motorcycle grip and your replacement grips are ready to go.
If replacing Iso grips from Kuryakyn the left grip Is glued on so follow the
instructions above for the stock grips. Many shops also use an air hose and blow
air under the stock grips to make them easier to remove. It is the same
principle as sliding the screw driver under the grips. You can also use a razor
blade and just cut the stock grips off and save a little time.
