Vegas and King Pin Shift Linkage

 

Install stainless socket head cap screw , lock washer, stainless nut, and aluminum sleeve as shown in photo onto the shift rod tab.

 

Slide the thrust washer over the shoulder of the stainless shouldered bolt (it may be tight). Install it into the bushing end of the shift rod.

 

 

 

Disconnect and remove your factory shift rod. Keep the right hand thread hiem joint and jam nut. Loosen the jam nut on the factory shift rod and then unthread the hiem joint off the rod. Install the hiem joint onto the tomahawk shift rod’s stainless socket head cap screw with the factory jam nut. Thread the jam nut on approx 5 full turns, thread the hiem joint on approx 4 full turns. Tighten the stainless socket head cap screw to SAE specs (loctite is recommend)

 

 

Thread the bushing end of the shift rod onto the gear select lever on the primary drive. You Must use loctite blue 242 on this fastner and torque to correct SAE spec for 6mm stainless bolts.

Align the new shift rod hiem joint end with the foot shift lever arm. Install the new 6mm socket head cap screw and the aluminum offset spacer. (Aluminum offset spacer not needed on Vegas)  Check foot shift lever location and adjust as needed.

Thread on 6mm nylock and torque to SAE specs once shift rod is adjusted. Check operation of shift rod
